What's Been Going in the K-1 class this week

Hey everyone,

Thanks for tuning in. Below are a few excerpts of what has happened in our class over the week and upcoming events in the K-1 class over the course of the week.

We have been visiting the garden daily and expanding the lots to include more mint and other vegetables including lettuce, onions and pumpkins. Pictures from the garden will soon follow.

On Monday, January 25, which also happened to be Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we celebrated the second term of Barack Obama's administration with painting two canvases of the president and one of Martin Luther King. They were monochromatic renditions of both.  We read stories of what it was like during Martin Luther King Jr.'s time and thought that our multicultural class and international school might not have existed in the same light. We have yet to decide where to hang the two paintings.

Today, after a story on the endangered species of the earth as part of our 'Animals' unit, we read a story about manatees and we decided to make some manatee mobiles to be hung in the class as part of our unit. Later when they are finished, we'll write some manatee poetry and hopefully post it to this blog. Stay tuned.

Over and out,

Mr.Marc
Homeroom Teacher for K-1
