Manatee Mania in K-1

Hi everyone,

We celebrated manatees in class today as the endangered species that they are. We made our own class manatee mobile and attempted some manatee poetry. Enjoy!

My Manatee

Manatees are animals
That don't live in the zoo.
They like living outside in the wild swamps.
They live with all different types of animals.
They take a deep breath before they go in water
And they swim very fast.

Charles The Manatee

Sometimes Charles is kind of shy.
He has flippers.
He lies under the water in Florida.
Did you know I was born there.

How the Manatees Eat

Manatees swim slowly among the swamps, munching plants.
They are an endangered species
Because their enemies like a shark or a whale might come and eat them.

Manatees are Big

They swim fast
Because they glide through the water.
They're very big.

The Ugly Manatee

The ugly manatee swims everywhere
With his Uncle Poco.
They swim in the ocean.
Then a crocodile came.
They swam away home so they could eat.
Uncle Poco and the manatee were best friends forever.

Emmmmmm Manatee

They're dangerous because they look scary.
They look green in pictures.
They're not so hairy,
But it looks like something scratched their nose.

Manatees

I would like to see manatees swimming in the water,
When it's warmer.
I like to see animals swim.
